Get Out of a Rut with These 3 Simple but Effective Mindset Changes

Do you feel like you’re stuck in a rut? Are you struggling to create a life you love? If so, it’s time to start changing your perspective and your mindset.
Let’s face it, many of us have gotten stuck in a routine and began to feel like we’re going through the motions like Zombies, not really living life. We feel like we’re not able to make the changes we want in our lives or that we’re not living the life we want to live. The truth is, often it’s our perspectives and mindsets that are keeping us stuck.
The good news is a shift in our mindset helps us break out of our routines, allowing us to see life from a different perspective and create a life we truly love. It can help us to open our minds to new possibilities and begin to see the world in a different way. This moves us from feeling stuck and helpless to feeling empowered and ready to take action.
After my daughters left the family home, I felt lost. I no longer knew who I was and what I was supposed to do with myself. I went through the motions every day but didn’t feel like I was getting anywhere or doing anything. Unsure what to do, I just sat in my sorrow. I spent much longer than I could have, feeling stuck.
That doesn’t have to be you! Here are three steps you can take to move you from feeling stuck to feeling empowered to create the life of your dreams.
1. Pay attention to your self-talk. We all have internal conversations going on in our heads, and those conversations can have a major impact on how we feel. If you find yourself saying negative things to yourself, such as “I’m not good enough” or “I’ll never get where I want to be”, take a step back and reframe those thoughts. Remind yourself of your strengths, break down goals into manageable steps, and encourage yourself.
2. Practice gratitude. When we take the time to be grateful for the things we already have, it can be easier to appreciate the positive aspects of our lives and see the abundance that’s all around us. We can also be grateful for the challenges and hardships that come our way, as those are often the stepping stones to growth and transformation.
3. Take action! If you want something you don’t have, you’re going to have to do something you’ve not done. Create an action plan and make adjustments as needed. You may find that it takes some trial and error, but the more effort you put into the process, the better your outcome.
Implementing these steps allowed me to move through my stuckness, letting me dream of a new life in which I would be happy living, and empowering me to take the action needed to create the life I love.
If these steps worked for me, I know they will work for you. With a positive mindset and a willingness to change, you too can make your dreams come true. All it takes is a little effort and a shift in perspective.
